Varna is the third largest city in Bulgaria with a population of about 330 000 people. It is the biggest city along the Bulgarian coast and is known as the Seaside Capital of Bulgaria. It is an international port and famous seaside resort. Varna is nestled in a deep valley between between the Avren and the Frengen Plateau and its structure follows the curves of the Bay of Varna.
Especially during the summer months, the city is a perfect place to relax and to enjoy the natural surroundings and the warm climate. Vineyards, gardens, mountains and the sea is what are surrounding this cultural and traditional city, which makes it not only a popular holiday resort but also a great place to live. At the end of the 8th century the town was a part of the Bulgarian Kingdom and was an important fortress and seaport until 1386 when Varna was conquered by the Ottomans. In 1921 it was proclaimed a resort.
