Pomorie has 15,000 inhabitants and is located on a narrow and rocky peninsula bordered by the sea on one side and a lake on the other. It is equidistant between Bourgas (with its international airport) which is 18 km to the north and Nessebar to the south.
There is a regular bus service between Pomorie and Bourgas. Private water transport to Bourgas and Nessebar can be hired from the quay.
Pomorie has beautiful beaches, and a spa which is situated on the banks of the Pomorie Lake and which offers various mud treatments. The curative powers of the mud which treats bone and muscular disorders, rheumatism, sciatica and lumbago was first discovered in the third century BC.
Pomorie has two old churches which are worth visiting: the Transfiguration Church has a valuable wood carved iconostasis and dates back to the 18th century: and the Assumption Church to the nineteenth.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from here with the most famous being the Tsarevets and Peneka. If you prefer to do your own cooking then you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables at low prices from the locals directly or at the marketplace.
