Burgas Airport is self-financing the upgrading of traffic control and navigation aid equipment. The airport has high international passenger traffic, mostly charters, during the summer tourist season, but during the remainder of the year operates mainly as a cargo airport, with scheduled services to Sofia. The master plan of Burgas Airport is going to cost an estimated sixty million dollars and involves upgrading the airport facilities and the basic reconstruction of the cargo terminal and area around the runway.
