| The town of Borovets is situated in the north of the Rila mountain range, at 1350 metres above sea level. Sofia is just 73 km away and the nearest town is Samokov in a distance of only 10 km. Borovets is a well known and popular ski resort during the winter months and a paradise for nature lovers during the summer time. Sports enthusiasts are coming to this area since 1896, which made it the most established and biggest resort in Bulgaria. Average temperatures in January are between 4ºC and 5ºC which is ideal for skiing and in July they range from 15ºC to 20ºC - perfect for those who want to practise outdoor sports such as hiking, climbing or cycling. A total of 45 km of ski runs are divided into 15 ski runs, 8 of which are located in the Sitnyakovo -Martinov woodsheds, 4 in Markoudzhik and 3 in Yastrebets which is the most important and well known one. Each of the regions provide everything you would expect from a resort of its calibre, including numerous restaurants, cafes and bars, shops, medical services, draglifts, cable cars, baby tows, seat chain lifts, a biathlon track, ski jumps, ski runs for beginners, 14 snow cannons, ski schools and much more. |
