The Black Sea Coast in Bulgaria is a 380 km stretch of coastline which is made up of golden sandy beaches surrounded by natural sand dunes, forests and mineral springs. The temperate climate from late May to September offers average sea temperatures of 25C, and the Black Sea coast is also an excellent spa area with its combination of climate, mineral baths, hot springs, and curative mud. With a backdrop of the Balkan Mountains, the beaches are safe places for children to play with low sloping inclines into the clear blue water. Most beaches offer a wide range of water sports including sailing, scuba diving, deep sea diving, windsurfing, water skiing, snorkelling and fishing.
In the far north you will find the resorts of Zlatni Piassatsi (Golden Sands), Albena, Roussalka, Riviera, Slanchev Den (Sunny Day)and St Konstantin and Elena which is one of the oldest resorts on the coast located in a park full of cypress and fig trees and lilies.
The Southern Black Sea Coast is rockier with small bays which are again surrounded by sand dunes. Here you will find the resorts of Elenite, Sunny Beach, Nessebur and Sozopol which is the oldest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is very pictursque with narrow winding streets full of shops and taverns. The Apollonia Arts Festival is held here during the Autumn.
