Vratza is situated at the foot of the Vratza Mountain with the gorge and Ledenika cave nearby, located 112 km. north of Sofia, 40 km. southeast of Montana, and 14 km. northwest of Mezdra.
The Vrachanski Balkan Nature Park is a wonderful place to visit with the richest cave region in the country. The Vratzata rock massif is an impressive vertical wall which is more than 400m high and is used extensively for rock climbing. Or if you like high adrenalin sports then you can parachute down from the Okolchitsa hut.
Other attractions in the town include the Ethnographic Revival Complex St.Sofronii Vrachanski, the community centre Razvitie which was built in 1869 and the Historical Museum. The Holy Ascension and St. Nicholas Churches are also of great interest.
