The town of Sungurlare is famous for its wines, with the most popular being Sungurlarksi misket.
It is situated 25 km to the north west of Karnobat in the beautiful Sungurlare Valley which reaches from the village of Mokren to the village of Lozarevo. The area is a combination of hills,mountains and plateaux with a continental climate of mild winters, early spring and a warm summer and autumn with insuffient rainfall.
The soil is excellent for growing vines, vegetables, tobacco and most grain crops. The cultivated land covers 277,600 decares covered with fields, plantations of perennial plants and meadows.
The annual production of Red Muskatel wine requires approximately
25,000 tons of grape, 15,000 tons of wheat and 6,000 tons of barley.
About 2,200 decares of Oriental Tobacco are here grown annually with its total yield amounting to 300 tons. Orchard fruits from the area incude peaches, cherries, strawberries and raspberries.
