The first time there has been a plane landing in Varna was in 1919 but it was not until 1947 that the airport started operating regular flights. Today the international airport in Sofia is operating flights from and to over 40 airports worldwide. Coming from England, you can choose between the airports London Gatwick and London Heathrow. Other regular flights are offered from Germany, Spain, France and many other countries outside the EU. Like most other international airports, the one in Sofia also offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars, services and facilities. There is a main restaurant located in the public area in level 1, where passengers, friends and family can enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee, a cool drink, a snack or a proper meal. Two bars in the public / departure area and one at the arrivals hall are offering a big selection of all kinds of drinks and small snacks. To complete the airports facilities and services, there are also Tour Operators, ATM's, Banks, a Business Lounge and a Post Office available. Getting to and from the airport is quite easy. You can either take a bus or a taxi (both bus station and taxi rank outside the terminal) or you can hire a car at a car rental desk in the arrivals hall. |
