The tiny village of Kiten has a population of less than 1,000 and is situated on a small peninsula at the southern end of Primorsko Bay which is 56 km south of the city of Bourgas.
Kiten is built on the ruins of the Urdoviza Fortress which was founded by the Romans. The settlement was deserted when Bulgaria fell to the Turks, and reinhabited after its Liberation. The current village was founded in 1931 by Greek fugitives and developed into a tourist destination during the 1970s.
Kiten is a uniquely beautiful place with the bay of Altiman and Karaagach River which flows into the sea from the southern end of Urdoviza Bay. This river is full of fish and you can walk along its banks until you reach its source in the Strandzha Mountains.
