The university in Bourgas is called Bourgas Prof. Assen Zlatarov University and has been founded in 1963. It is named after Prof. Dr Assen Zlatarov who studied chemistry in Geneva, specialized in Munich, was Professor at Sofia University and Doctor of Grenoble University. Becoming a student in Bulgaria means that you will also get a visa for the duration of your stay at the university. Foreign students will pass a one year long language course which includes prior university preparations, before starting to study. Reason for that is the fact that all lectures are held in Bulgarian. Fees vary from each university; the one in Bourgas is €2.500 per year. Facilities that are provided by the Bourgas Prof. Assen Zaltroff University include three student hostels (a single room with shower and heating costs €63/month), a canteen, a medical centre, a gym, an extensive library, three colleges and two teaching corps with 120 PhDs and 86 professors. Students can decide between three faculties (Technical Sciences, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences), 21 departments and 27 subjects. After three years of study, a student will become Specialist, after four years Bachelor, after five years Master and another three years after that PhD. |
